M6 Stage 1 Electrical Installation
Electrical installation in complex urban area with minimal community impact
The M6 Stage 1 is a $3.1 billion Sydney infrastructure project featuring 4 km of twin tunnels connecting the M8 at Arncliffe to President Avenue in Kogarah, scheduled to open in late 2028. The project is designed to reduce traffic on the Princes Highway by 10,000 vehicles daily, remove over 2,000 trucks each day, and enhance connectivity across southern Sydney.
Kinvara Civil was engaged to deliver the 33 kV electrical infrastructure, which included a 6‑ and 8‑way bank of conduits and multiple joint bays installed along 1 km of the overall 7 km route, from Canterbury STS to the new M6 corridor in Rockdale. Works involved complex trenching through urban streets, requiring careful staging, traffic planning, and community engagement to minimise disruption.
All conduit installation and testing were completed to Ausgrid specifications and ASP1 standards, with Kinvara delivering a safe, compliant, and high quality solution across a challenging urban environment.
